Estimate an LSAC-style undergraduate GPA from the courses, grades and credit hours you enter. The calculator uses LSAC’s published grade-conversion values and credit-weighted GPA formula, while clearly separating this estimate from LSAC’s official transcript summarization.
For grades that LSAC converts, the weighted GPA is calculated from converted grade values and attempted credit hours. This tool supports the standard letter-grade values shown below. Your official CAS Academic Summary Report can differ because LSAC applies transcript- and institution-specific rules.

Important 2026–2027 LSAC GPA Rule
LSAC announced a future change involving college-level courses completed while a candidate was in high school.
How the LSAC GPA Estimate Is Calculated
1. Convert the grade
The calculator maps supported letter grades to LSAC’s published numerical values, including A+ = 4.33, A = 4.00 and A− = 3.67.
2. Weight by credits
For each row, quality points = converted grade value × entered credit hours.
3. Add the rows
The calculator totals the entered attempted credits and quality points. Repeated attempts should be entered separately when both grade and units appear on the transcript.
4. Divide the totals
Estimated GPA = total quality points ÷ total attempted credit hours for the rows you entered.

Where a Simple GPA Calculator Can Differ From LSAC
Repeated courses: LSAC states that all grades and credits for repeated courses are included when the course units and grades appear on the transcript. However, the exact transcript record matters; an original attempt can be excluded in circumstances described in LSAC’s policy, such as when both the grade and units for that original attempt are not shown.
Academic forgiveness: grades still reflected on the transcript for forgiven courses are generally included even when the institution excludes them from its own GPA. LSAC’s rules differ when the forgiven grade is no longer displayed.
Quarter credits: LSAC reports credits in semester hours and says quarter hours are multiplied by 0.67. This calculator does not automatically convert quarter hours; convert them before entry when appropriate.
Pass/fail, withdrawals and other symbols: treatment depends on LSAC rules and, in some cases, whether the issuing institution considers a notation punitive. Those cases are deliberately not represented as simple grade choices here.

These examples demonstrate the calculator’s arithmetic, not an official LSAC transcript determination.
Three standard courses
40.00 quality points ÷ 10 credits = 4.00.
Repeated attempts entered separately
53.04 ÷ 18 = 2.9467, displayed as 2.95. Whether an original attempt belongs in the official calculation depends on LSAC’s transcript rules.
Mixed letter grades
29.33 quality points ÷ 10 credits = 2.933, displayed as 2.93.
LSAC GPA Estimation Mistakes to Avoid
Assuming every transcript uses the same conversion
LSAC maintains an Interpretive Guide because institution-specific grading systems can require different treatment. Use the official guide when your transcript does not use the common letter grades supported here.
Automatically deleting an earlier repeated grade
Do not assume your school’s grade-replacement policy is identical to LSAC’s summarization. Check whether the original grade and units remain on the transcript and review LSAC’s repeated-course and forgiveness rules.
Treating every WF as an automatic zero
LSAC’s current guidance includes exceptions for withdrawal/failure notations depending on how the issuing institution treats them. This calculator therefore does not offer WF as a generic grade option.
Ignoring the application-cycle change for dual enrollment
The treatment of college-level coursework completed in high school changes beginning with the 2027–2028 cycle. Check the cycle that applies to you.
